Nigeria's Trending Social Media Mistakes

The available and trending Social Media platforms has had a
huge impact on Nigerians in almost all ramifications of different human  disciplines. These medias were meant for good
tidings on a slate of making life more easy and beautiful for mankind at large.
Mike Zuckerburg saw the need for friends to exchange messages and he decided to
come up with Facebook which now has
hundreds of million users all across the world. Bill Gates saw the need for
computer developments and software building to make office and other area of
works  easier across the globe so he came
up with the MS-Word and other developer software for computers for its users to
enjoy with a long serving satisfaction.

In all these developments I mentioned above if you noticed,
they  were actually intended or rather
started with an idea and concept of making life more positive and easy for
mankind to reduce stress and save time for other important engagements that
matter depending on the  individual(s)
concerned. Humans have questions everyday on different issues and to this
effect, some persons came up with an idea of creating a search engine that
brings relevant answers to questions when its users asks a question from across
the web. They named it Google  they did not stop at that. They also have
extension of adding different countries abbreviations to it in order to help make
the search for information easier depending on geographical locations. Here in
Nigeria we have our own extension as Google.com.ng.
in here a Nigerian can get  information relating to Nigeria much easier
and faster.

Now back to the main topic of this article. We’ve seen how
helpful the internet and its social media platforms have been of great help to
mankind. But then there are certain mistakes some users of these platforms make
that tends to abuse the essence of their existence. These  little or big mistakes depending on how you
take them I shall be pointing out in this article. This time it’s from the Nigerian
perspective.  In Nigeria, the youth love the social media
with so much passion but then there are certain errors that needs to be
corrected.

1.       Sharing Of Family Difficulties Publicly
Online:

This is becoming a trend this
days as some individuals are  finding it
hard to keep family secrets but rather choose to share it publicly irrespective
of what the topic maybe. They share this most times with the intention to get
some help or advices but then there are better ways to air your challenges
online order than making it public online. Search for personalities that handle
family matters online and have one-on-one chat with them and not the other way
round.

It is very necessary that this mistake be corrected or
avoided while using any form of social media platform as this mistake can break
homes and marriages beyond repair. Issues like this could lead to a divorce
like in the case where a woman keep nagging about her husband’s behavior  on Facebook or  twitter.  Start today to avoid or stop this form of
error in your use of the internet.

2.       Posting Of Inappropriate Images Online:

This is common with  Nigerian ladies  as some of them believe they can gain fame by
showing  raunchy pictures of themselves
on their social media profiles. No matter how desperate a lady is, this is
wrong as its results over time in history has never been positive but rather
negative. The aftermath of its negative  impacts leaves a bad print on an individual’s
personality for the future to come.

Some men this days too are guilty
of this error. In their own dimension, the Nigerian social media jargon calls
it “eggplant” to depict or explain when a man is sharing a raunchy picture of
himself online. Well,  funny and offensive
as this may sound to many, it is actually wrong as such persons can never be
proud of those pictures of themselves when they’re  80-100 years of age. So why start something
you could regret in a future to come? It is better to break free from the
trends that are actually negative.

3.       Sharing Confidentially-Classified
Information Online:

Some civil servants this days share
information about the mode of operation of their place of work. They do this by
constantly giving updates of their workplace’s  current operations online without permission. in
this year 2015, you’ll see a worker of an organization granting information or
interview about his/her company in the case of a problem to media and then  claiming anonymous by profile on record but
the harm to the dignity and pride of the organization has been done.

A mistake like this could make you
loose your job because investigations could yield results that will expose what
you’ve done and you’ll be  found guilty
of breaching the terms and policies of your work place. Why not mind the kind
of information you post about your workplace online? This mistake could also be
a loophole of use to your organization’s competitors who may have been  looking for ways to override it. Would you be
a help or a threat to your  workplace? Make
a wise  choice today and play safe while
using the social media.

4.       Tricking People To Make Money:

As old as this form of cheating  and its consequences is , some individual
still use it to make money online. This is a case where  someone fakes a personality and patiently
builds an audience and at the planned time begins to trick people into doing
business with them and in the process cheat them by  not doing what they claim to offer as services
to their illusive clients that never existed. This is totally unlawful and
unwelcomed in every country in the
world. So why indulge in something that could tarnish your life and
future if you are caught? Grow above negativity and embrace lawful methods of
making money online.

Well these are a few  of some social media mistakes I observed that
are trending currently. Do you have some which you observed too? Feel free to
