5 Lessons From Nelson Mandela's Lifestyle

south African freedom fighter in 1995

Nelson Mandela(1918-2014) was a south-African Hero who lived
almost all his life fighting for the freedom of his people . Several times he
suffered setbacks such as imprisonment and neglect by men of high governmental
ranking in the early years of South-Africa. Nelson Mandela as of today in
memory is seen as father of nationalism and a successful freedom fighter for
the his nation. While reviewing his lifetime history, I discovered that there
are so much to pick out and learn from it as well. This article centers on some
positive lifestyle ethics that would be of great help for societal development.

From his governmental responsibilities and strength lies
some lessons which are outlined below;

1.       A Nationalism Mentality:

In all his quests, he had the
people of his nation at heart. Despite the challenges he was faced  with in the 1950s, Mandela kept on pushing
through because he had a target which he desired to achieve. Like every other
human being, he must have had his personal desires. But he chose to blend his
personal heart desires to rhyme with the cry of his people for freedom in their
own God-given land.

From this concept of living that
Mandela initiated for himself, you would see that irrespective of individual
differences and quests in life, there is always a way to make room for it to
serve the nation at large thereby having you contribute your own quota to your
Nation. This would be a huge bonus to national building of all sorts because
citizens would be zealously involved; which means success. Would you be a contributor to
your nation as well?

2.       Fearlessness:

Nelson Mandela broke free from the grip of fear in terms of his quest on
the interest of the wrongly treated in the community by ignoring the threats of
those who suppressed others. He did this by signing into law in 1999 a new
South African constitution which gave some rights to minorities in the country.
That way the law would defend their rights when it is violated.

In the same way just  like Mandela’s, there are moments that you
need to make real tough decisions which are risky. But if you must succeed just
as Mandela did, then you must finalize your decisions by exhibition. After he(mandela)
signed in the new constitution, it immediately took its course for the nation. In
the same manner there are certain successes that you aim but fear of some
decisions have held you back. Would you let it just go or fight your way
to it?

3.       Had No Room For Pride:

Despite his key role in the quest
for freedom, Mandela never portrayed any sign of egocentric lifestyle. He avoided
this simply because it would thwarts all the efforts invested into the mission
which he was on. He pocketed pride and made it have no relevance by the way he
lived and interacted with others in the government. If he had some problem of
pride, in 1999 he wouldn’t have democratically handed over to Thabo Mbeki. He showed
a good example of democracy by giving way for others to contribute their own
quota to the nation.

Likewise there is a need to ignore
the desires to have everything work your way. Always give more room for humility
so that you would  easily know when there
is a need for a change of plan in your goal pursuance in life. Start today to
live a pride-free career  life.

4.       Constantly Courageous:

Upon  his release from prison on February 11, 1990,
he stood to address his supporters. He portrayed an uncommon act of courage. Who
leaves a prison and on that same day continues on a quest for which he went to
jail? His manner of zeal for progress  had a strong foundation on optimism. He kept
on moving even when it seemed hopeless. It is very necessary that in all your
goal pursuance, let courage be a concept.

5.       Unconditionally Flags Peace:

Despite all the terrible moments he
faced which were setbacks for his plans, he still maintained peace and this
singular act of righteousness won him a Noble Peace Price in 1993. From this
history of his, it is clear to all that hard work coupled with a peaceful
mindset leads to success and rewards as well. Just as in the case of Mandela .
he was busy running after excellence and success followed later on. The same
goes for any other person who applies the same concept.

These lessons were  picked out from the lifetime story of
South-Africa’s Nelson Mandela. He was and still is/a great icon when it comes
to nation building. You too can be a Nelson Mandela for your nation in your
time.
