The Nigerian Boy's Dream Episode 7: The Masquerades Invasion

While Emeka looked around in shock , wondering what the
chaos was all about, he saw hundreds of horrible looking masquerades with sharp
cutlasses and leather skin-made whips. These horrible personalities were
advancing towards the school premises through the school gates. Emeka  still in confusion made his way to a safe
hide out. While he hid  at a corner
behind his classroom block, he overheard  some of the masquerades laughing in a mockery
manner using the language of the Odo shrine.

Emeka had a little knowledge of this slangs which he learnt
from his late father who was a traditionalist. so he uttered a response with
fear in an attempt to avoid being hurt. When they heard him, they came closer
to where  he was and behold he who spoke
the language they heard was a little boy whose age grade has never been recorded
in the masquerade cult ever in history. This shocked them and they called him
out and began asking him questions. They wanted to know where he hailed from. As
he replied them with an answer, they understood that he(emeka) was actually a
son to a worshiper of their gods.

While all these were going on, the other  factions of masquerades were busy causing
havoc in the school premises as they chased both students and teachers away,
they also broke  glass windows violently
with their cutlasses. But  the
communication between Emeka and some of them made them to stop and pay a
tribute to the fact that one of their ilk’s son was in the vicinity. This is so
because they don’t inflict any form of pain on one of their own. He(emeka ) was
one of them for being a son of a worshiper.

They decided to leave the school premises. After about  five hours, some teachers and students
starting coming back and to their surprise, they found Emeka alone in the
school premises. His fellow students
started asking him how he survived the masquerades who have made It a
culture to annually cause havoc in the school. Emeka  narrated everything that occurred to them. When
the news got to the principal’s office about Emeka , he was summoned to report
to the principal’s office.
