EMEKA NWAOBASI: "Nothing is Hard if you Study Hard" (An insight intoEducation)
Mr. Emeka Nwaobasi is my teacher, friend, and a nice uncle as well. He's a lecturer with the Federal polytechnic Mubi, Adamawa state. He's a graduate of Federal University of technology Owerri(FUTO). I came to know him when he supervised my National Diploma (ND) project back in 2011. He was so brilliant to know everything that needed a fix. I guess that's because he's simply a genius. Read on
I became more inspired and motivated by him when i got to my final year. The head of department Engr. V.O Fache was my surpervisor. I brought four topics but all were disapproved because they were considered as below standard for HND project. It was at this point that the HOD linked me to Mr. Emeka because he(my supervisor) wanted me to do a project that is microntroller-based. At first I thought it was so much impossible but my fears were calmed down just like a storm when Mr. Emeka began to brief me on electronics with relation to embedded systems and how it has taken over the 21st century technology. I was so desperate to see mine work as my project topic was Design and Construction of a Microcontroller-based 8 × 12 LED dot matrix pong game. It involved about 96 LED bulbs to be soldered in rows and columns.
The difficult part of it was that the microcontroller to be used must be programmed with C programming language. At first I wondered who will program it and to my greatest surprise, Mr. Emeka was the programmer behind the scene of it all. At the point of this discovery, I had greater respect than ever for him because he proved beyond every reasonable doubt that there is nothing one can't do if he tries hard in it. My fears about working on a project that may not be realised was wiped away as I could see him constructing exactly my project just to prove to me that mine too is very possible. He did that to motivate and encourage me.
When I bowed down to his geeky intelligence was when he began to manipulate the codes to get us the exact result the project required to function well in accordance to the design. Every smart manipulation he did was always beautiful and mind blowing.
One day I got talking with him and I used that opportunity to ask him where and when he learnt all these things he could do so well. He then took me into a deep history of how he maximized time in the past and studied harder in the very things he loved the most. How he went an extra mile learning programming languages on his own and manipulated alot of it to get certain kinds of results he desired.
By coming close to Mr. Emeka, I came to understand that there is nothing that one can not do if he/she tries hard. I will forever be grateful that I came to know great men like Mr. Emeka Nwaobasi, Engr. V.O Fache.
