How To Control Your Speech

speech control and character building

Several times we've said somethings that were not right and the effects of it thereafter leaves us regretting why we uttered such words. speech control is a step forward to having an authority on words to avoid mistakes. thoughts are always circulating in the mind but it shouldn't be always directly proportional to speaking cause sometimes emotions like anger are involved in thoughts.

Below are some simple methods that can be applied in order to be able to control speech;

1. Don't Always Have an Answer:
  You must not have an answer or a point of view pertaining everything else you'll say lots of wrong things. take up an exercise of saying nothing when you don't have a clue of what to say and as well as when you don't need to speak.

Among friends or colleagues sometimes, everyone will expect you to speak but to have full control over your speech you'll have to be quiet when you don't have an answer.

2. Cross-check Your Thoughts Before Speaking:
  Be careful enough to quickly weigh and scrutinize your thoughts before you say it out. words spoken can't be retrieved back. have a thought-check to make sure it's the right thing to say. the impact of words can go a long way. therefore it needs to be supervised by you.

3. Be Slow to Speak Most Times:
  Don't be so fast to jump into talking as that will deprive you the opportunity of cross-checking your thoughts before speaking. especially when angry or excited, you're likely to utter lots of words so fast because of the emotions attached. be wise enough to gain your power over speech by being slow to speak when necessary.

4. Think More and Speak Less:
  The power house of words is the thoughts. speaking is just a loudspeaker of thoughts. so have full control by spending much time thinking than speaking. it is in thinking you know what to say,how to say it,where to say it and where not to say it. much talking will only give way for terrible mistakes because the power house which is the thoughts does not have an authority in its dimension. think more and speak less.

5. Set Up a Standard for Yourself:
  Since you know yourself much better than anyone, you can set up a principle that you'll live by as long as talking is concern. the strength to control what you utter is in your hands. all you have to do is to put it to work to gain full control of your word.

Talking is a great thing that is natural. it has helped mankind right from the very beginning in terms of communication of all kinds. but wrong sayings as well has left lots of negative influences both to the speaker and the listeners. having personal full control over speech gives room for different forms of self-discovery. do you have control over the words you utter?
