The Nigerian Boy's Dream: Episode 2
As Emeka stood aside quiet and confused, his father made his way to his land with his cutlass with much rage. emeka and his mum were still at home towards the evening time when a message came that his father's body was found floating on the village stream. his father was killed. this was devastating,shocking and painful all at the same time.
Emeka's mother threw herself to the ground, crying and rolling on the floor. the village women around were struggling to calm her down. emeka was wondering who did this and why, what he could do without his father,who will provide meal for the house. these thoughts made him burst into tears and he exclaimed "what a wicked world!". he immediately developed a strange strong will to move on with a quest to be great and fight the evil that has taken away his beloved father.
His father's corpse was brought home and laid to rest. the whole villagers gathered with tears in their eyes cause emeka's father was very popular with his palm wine tapping business. they all immediately began to miss him with much pain in their hearts. they swore by their ancestors' grave and placed curses on the murderers of their beloved son of the soil. the night was like a day as the moon and the stars paid their last respect to the great palm wine tapper with their blissful light. the trees shook all through the night releasing cool breeze to signify his peaceful co-existence lifestyle with the villagers. the night birds flew round his house and whistled melodic sounds in respect to his memory.
Emeka was heartbroken and bitter but he was trying to control his anger as he comforts his mother while she was chanting songs of pain. she missed her husband.
The next day emeka being a teenager never minded his age boldly took his father's belt for climbing palm wine trees.off he climbs to a palm tree in their household. he wanted to learn the ways of his father. with tears in his eyes, he was taking every step up praying for the strength of his father to come upon him. his prayer was answered as he finally reached the peak of the palm tree. up there he saw a hole bored by his father for the wine to drip from. he(emeka) tied a jar round it to tap the wine. he made his way down from the tree.
As he returned to the house, his mother asked him where he was and what he was doing holding his father's palm wine tapping belt. he then answered " i am on the quest to learn the ways of my father and from there be even more greater than he was". this melted his mother's heart as she could see her husband inside her son emeka. she came closer and hugged him. few hours later, the King's messenger brought a message which requests that emeka should report to the king's palace immediately.
