The Nigerian Boy's Dream: Episode 4
Emeka packed properly his bags ready for the journey he never dreamed of but as life seeks no permission before it brings a destined blessing to anyone, he had no choice other than to wallow in the joy that has been placed before him by the king's kindness.
Immediately it was time for him to leave, his mother began to cry cause it was clear that she was going to miss her boy who has always kept her happy before and after her husband's sudden death. the lorry was ready with a guardian to guide him(emeka) on his early days in school.
The school was 50km away from the village and Emeka had to live in a boarding setting so as to concentrate more on studies. off they went to Nri Boy's college in Anambra state. on their way the young boy took note of great sights that captivated him. to him those were refreshing and inspiring even though it's nothing serious to the civilized world.
While on the journey he was wondering what it was going to be like to be a student in a place far from home with no parents around but just students and teachers for months. he couldn't figure out the clear picture of how it was going to look like because the experience of it was not yet in place.
In a short while, they were at the school. he was registered and was allocated to a hostel. to him, this was going to be an adventure just like one of those moments he usually have in the village bushes while on a meat hunt. he saw many students playing, others washing and lot's more. being a small boy and a fresher he said to himself "wow! is this all that is done in this level of education?" his excitement about what he saw kept him happy that afternoon.
Towards the evening, the dinning bell was ranged and everybody began to head to the dinning hall. he never understood what was going on but he joined the trend of movement. when they got there he was surprised and happy as he saw lots of food arranged in an orderly manner on the long dinning table. he had his dinner that night and felt he was in heaven as there was no wood chopping and fetching of water before he could eat as he is used to at home.
When it was light out, he laid down to sleep but he remembered his dear mother. he could feel her pain of loneliness at home. he felt as if he has deserted her as he wondered about who would fetch water for her and as well chop woods for her. all these thoughts made him feel bad. in tears with a thought of his mother, he slept off.
Early in the morning at about 5:30am, the dormitory bell was ranged for the morning devotional prayers. Emeka woke up in shock as he has never been woken up in that manner. still in confusion of what the bell-sound could stand for, he saw others dressing up and heading to a small hall in the dormitory. being a smart boy he decided to join them in order not to be left out.
As the hall was filled with students, the 'religious Prefect' walked in and looked round for who to appoint that will lead the opening prayer. as he turned left, he saw Emeka and said "Bro come and lead us in an opening prayer" it was a shocking command for him as he has never prayed in a crowd except the prayers he usually had with his mother.
He stood before them all not knowing what prayer to say. he noticed that they all closed their eye waiting for him to start. he then began by saying................................!!!!!
