What To Do After Nigeria's 2015 Elections

The Nigeria's election that the electorates and candidates of different political parties have been waiting for is here. the presidential election has just been concluded and a winner just emerged to be the president-elect. this is a result that is expected; a winner with higher vote and a second winner with a lesser vote than the first. why i describe them in that manner is because they both are not enemies in true sense but are people of the same interest for servant-hood for the sake of the nation.

The truth is, in moments of national elections, there are lots of issues that go on between electorates and political parties. in this context, the influencing agents are the political parties. lots of issues that relates the citizens are brought up which sometimes tends to divide the people other than unite them. this is so because of the heat of the moment.

Our Diversity is our source of strength and not the opposite. to this effect i earlier before the elections commenced gave a hint on what to do before the elections and today i have some very important things that is necessary that every citizen of Nigeria needs to do after the elections and even within the remaining processes.

1. Appreciate Nigeria:

It is in moments like this that people of a nation needs to maintain a good thought for their nation. it is not time to curse any region irrespective of what differences was cooked up in the process. normally there will be people who are not happy about the outcome but the truth of the matter is Nigeria is still ours as a nation.

Learn to still respect the national values as this is a patriotic act that has a reward in ways you may not see now. it is only when you appreciate, respect and love Nigeria that you'll think of what mark you are to make in the nation at large.

2. Reconciliation:

In the race of the elections, there have been several forms of campaign on the interest to have a desired candidate get a role to play in government. this process of campaigns involved not just political parties but also the electorates as well. there was political heat everywhere, yawns for power as different entities were all interested in governmental service.

With all this, there has been quarrels,word-fights,allegations and others. all these are not just amidst political parties but also amongst the electorates who support one party or the other. now that the heat is on and almost gone, there is need for amends. there is a serious need to put peace to heart because chaos has never ever made anything good out of any nation instead brings damages of all kinds. swords needs to sheathed and not to be used for any reason. it is necessary for those who became enemies because of this period to reconcile and stop that tradition of fight in moments like this.

3. Heal The Wounds:

In Nigeria so far lots of wounds has been inflicted to and fro political parties and it has affected the citizens as well in this period of election. these wounds were not necessarily fleshy but psychologically. it has created grudges that some see as unforgivable. it will be a very good thing and a room for more peace if we all will begin to retrieve all the harsh words we used on others just because of elections. words that hurt are not forgiven easily without a healing.

The healing am referring to in this context is the use of words to give room for peace. stop the unnecessary word-fights and quarrels as  those are not but parasites that eat up our national values and degenerate the democracy we labored for right from our past heroes. it's necessary you say "forgive my harsh words" to someone you know you hurt by words in this period of elections. "i forgive you" should be heard from whosoever was wronged by any means. never wait to be asked before you forgive. Let the National Healing begin!

4. Stop Hate Speeches:

In this moment of elections, hate speeches became a culture. there was no single respect for personalities in the nation. words knew no boundaries as everybody became age-mates just because there is freedom of speech. it shouldn't be so. we all are special in our own ways which others may not see or understand. using hate speeches as a tool for any reason is uncalled for.

On social media live above hate,in the office, market, school and others. hate will only beat drums of war that will be of no benefit to us as individuals and a nation at large. never forget that our diversity is and should continue to be our strength.

5. Continue to Pray For Nigeria:

Irrespective of whether it's the person you desired that won or not, there is need to have the interest of Nigeria at heart. if every citizen does so, it gives room for good tidings as all interests will be positive and gradually fit in place for the sole aim of our growth as a nation. pray always for Nigeria for we all have no other country to go to and take over as ours.

The above tips are very necessary and  will also aid the maintenance our national values. applying them in this moment that we are in, will help in the positive growth which we as a nation hope for everyday.
