My Survival Series Pt4: "The Journey To Cameroun"

As we sought safety, we decided to head to cameroun from the town of Mujara. the roads were hilly in nature, rough with stones but we kept on moving with the faith that cameroun was closer. we were already exhausted but the quest needed to be continued as night was fast approaching.

While still moving forward we approached Sahuda town which had a very long entry path. getting a bike or a taxi to board to reach the town was difficult. the one we saw was too small to convey us all. so we decided that some of us will move ahead while few of us would come over on foot. we never knew the road was that long. to our surprise we were getting exhausted and were not getting any closer. we then applied the wisdom of resting when tired and moving on after regaining some strength. finally we got to Sahuda and met with others who went ahead of us. when we asked around the town about the route to cameroun, we were told that the boarder town of Cameroun Bokoula was very close as it is a nearby town to Sahuda town. being so tired, thirsty and hungry since morning we couldn't bear the thought of trekking to Cameroun. we decided to seek for a means to reach Bokoula town.

As we sought for bikes to board, the prices were so expensive because on that day fuel was sold at the rate of  #400 per liter. i was shocked when i heard that. it was so because of the chaos that befell Mubi town. it became an opportunity for exploitation. we got some bikes and shared it two persons per bike to get to Camerounian border town Bokoula. in less than 20minutes we found ourselves at the border. to my greatest surprise, the border was filled with our fellow students, lecturers and other residents of Mubi. i also saw lots of cars. i began wondering how those cars were able to pass through those rocky paths. it was God's doing i exclaimed in my heart. we saw some friends and exchanged greetings. it was as if we have not seen them for months. we were all sharing our painful experiences of the attack and the way we all escaped. at this point i felt a refreshing calmness that i couldn't have since morning as we left Yewa Husere where we slept.

We all found a place and sat down cause the night was few minutes away. as the night finally came, it was like a nightmare cause it came with so much cold that sleeping became almost impossible. we were all sleeping on the ground with nothing to lay on. we laid close to each other to shield ourselves from the cold. we were like slaves cause we had no choice than to endure the pain that has befallen us.
